Arena

Ask one question two ways at once and read both answers side by side, to see which framing you actually wanted.

Arena sends one prompt down two columns at the same time and streams both answers side by side. Each column has its own mode and its own optional persona.

What it is for

Comparing framings, not engines. The useful comparisons are the ones you can act on:

  • Precise against Creative on the same brief, to see whether you wanted the

careful answer or the interesting one.

  • Two personas on the same input — the same paragraph read by an SEO writer and

by a code reviewer tells you which lens fits.

  • A persona against no persona, to find out whether the instruction is earning

its place.

How to run one

Open Arena, set each column's mode and persona, and send. Both columns generate concurrently rather than one after the other, so a comparison costs roughly what a single answer costs in time.

Each column only ever sees its own side of the conversation. If you send a follow-up, the left column replays the left column's answers and the right replays the right — they never read each other's output, which would make the second round meaningless.

Two columns, on purpose

Arena stops at two. Three columns of streaming prose stop being readable on a laptop, and the point of a side-by-side is to be able to see both sides at once.

What Arena will not tell you

It will not tell you which engine answered, because that is not a thing this product exposes anywhere. It also will not declare a winner — the whole exercise is you reading two answers and knowing which one you wanted.

Attachments are off in Arena. A comparison would need two image-capable engines available at the same moment, and on free tiers that is not reliably true; a column that silently answered without seeing your picture would be worse than no column.
